DAIRYING IN AUCKLAND.
PROPOSED WINTER SEASON. .'The'prolongation of tho present dairying season in Auckland is giving rise to discussion as to whether dairying cannot bo continued" all the year round as in New South Wales. It is admitted that the Auckland province has equally asgood a- climate for dairying as. New South Wales, anil an advantage in this respect over Taranaki, but it is pointed out that Auckland; producers are handicapped in the matter of roads' and their inability to get the milk to the • factories in winter make's'.wiiiter dairying a difficult problem in many.narts of the province. It-is reported, liowever, that several, factories which aro favourably situated in the matter of roads, will remain open during the coming winter, and it is hoped that this departure will bo the forerunner of a similar movement on a bigger scale in tho future.
Although-the present season is still in full swing, the •'Herald" states preparations are. already, being made'for the next, and it'is anticipated, provided tho saiuo favourable conditions, eventuate, that the season will eclipse that of 1909-10. Contracts have already, been let,for the erection of large and up-to-dato factories at Eotorua, Matata, in the Bay of Plenty, Herekirib, in the far north, and Piopio, in'the King Country, and these should be in 'active operation by October next, ready to deal, with the milk at from 800 to 1000 cows each. II is highly. probable that another seven or eight factories on a' corresponding scale will he erected at othei places is the Auckland .-jn-ovince in. the near future, .including- Kaeo, WaiweTa, and Kaurimu., '.. ,
