DR. HENRY MISSION. ■■ The Executive Committee making arrangements for the coming mission of Dr. Henry and Mr. C. A. Potts met last Monday evening at the Y.M.C.A. There were present: The Rev. "J.-'K. 'Elliott, B.A. (in the chair), and the Revs. W. Shirer, A. Dewdney, Dr. Gibb, W. J. Williams, J. J. North, • and Messrs. G. Paradise, J. Rumgay, Staff-Captain Orams, Collis, B. R. Davis, J. P. Mills, and H. N. Holmes, secretary. It was decided that if possible the Town Hall be secured for a choir practice on Friday, April B,' when Mr. C. A. Potts will be present. It was reported that-107 names were already in hand to become personal workers in the mission. . . ;•••■■■ ~ A 'long discussion took place as to the best means of bringing the' mission adequately before the people- of ' the city and it was ultimately' decided to distribute a circular of' invitation to every home in tho-city. An'. invitation -will also bo given, to. every, person attend-, ing church and Sunday, .schools next Sunday. • , , „ . . , Dr. Henry reported having'made arrangements with Pitchett Bros.; of Melbourne, to supply-,. Alexander hymn books for use at the mission. Ktchett Bros, will send over one man to take complete charge of the books at the mission. ' '" ' " ' The Executive Committee reported with reference to badges and. it. was decided to have cardboard badges printed for for ushers and workers of various kinds.. A big public reception is-being arranged for Dr. Henry in the Kent Terr'ance Presbyterian Church on Wednesday evening, next, and oh Thursday he will address the personal workers for the mission, while a big-choir rehearsal will take place on Friday, "April 8,: in the Town Hall. ..'."
ANGLICAN MISSION OF HELP. It has been arranged that the members of the Anglican Mission of Help shall visit this diocese in October, arriving not later than Saturday, October 1, and remaining until Monday, the 17th. They will hold an eight days' mission in the following places-.—Wanganui, Palnierston North, Mastertpn, St. Paul's Wellington, St. Peter's Wellington, St. Mark's Wellington, St. Thomas's Wellington, and Potone; and a four days' mission at each of. the following:—Hawera, Eltham, Feilding, Martonj Taihape or Hunterville, Foxton, Levin, Pahiatua. It is hoped that four days' missions may be held also at Carterton and Otaki, and that short visits may be made to other places at the beginning of December. In the week beginning September 25, one or two of the Missioners from England will hold services andgive addresses in' the Town Hall at Wellington, on five or six days, returning later (if they are needed) to the diocese of Waiapu for a week's work. • ' An effort is to be made to obtain .£2OO to provide for an extra Missioner for the diocese of Wellington only, in order that he may travel duriag the whole, or greater,, part of the months of, September, October, and November, and visit those places which will otherwise be left untouched by the Mission, including the suburbs of Wellington. ' •'
METHODIST GENERAL CONFEEENCE. . " The following New Zealand delegates have been appointed to attend the General Conference of the Methodist Church of,.Australasia, which opens, at Adelaide on May 26: — Ministers—Revs. P. W. Laws), the secretary (Eev. S. Lawry), and Eev. W. >Baumber and Mr. G. H. Blackwell (treasurers of the Children's Fund) are ex-officio delegates to the conference. SALVATION ASMt NEWS. Colonel Brengle, of the Salvation Army, leaves on Monday. for Wanganui. The following Thursday he will be at Eltham, and Saturday at Palmerston. . After visiting Dannevirke (April 13), and Gisborne (April 16) he expects to leave Auckland for Sydney on May 2. Colopel Saunders, architect of the Salvation Army, is due in. Wellington from Auckland, Eltham, and Dannevirke on Thursday next. Ho will leave for Sydney the following day. Commissioner Hay, the new head of the Salvation Army for Australasia, wil. hold his first general conference of staff officers in July in Melbourne. Colonel Knight and probably other officers located in Wellington will attend the conference. Colonel Knight will leave on Monday next with Colonel Brengle for Wanganui, Eltham, and Palmerston North.
