President Taft, in a message to Congress, states that negotiations regarding the application of the maximum 'and minimum tariffs are substantially completed with all nations, and the results are satisfactory. Ho /asks for an appropriation of a quarter of a million dollars for the 'establishment of a Tariff Board. ...... , CANADIAN PRESS DIVIDED. (R-ec. March 30, 0.50 a.m.) Ottawa, .March 29. Canadian newspapers are divided conccrning tho results of the tariff negotiations with the United States. It is understood that tho reductions are applicable to all countries. Canada's tariff will bo slightly reduced on a small number of articles. . London, March 29. Tho Toronto correspondent of."Tho Times" mentions that there is strong general opposition to any formal negotiations Being entered .into , . with Washington for more extended trade relations. ■ ■ The United States press - welcomes President Taft's succcss.
