FOOTBALL.
NEW ZEALAND REFEREES' ASSOCIATION. ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the New Zealand Referees' Association was held last evening, Mr. R. M. Isaacs (president) occupying the chair. The delegates present were: Messrs. A. Campbell (Auckland), F. Spurdle (Taranaki), A. ,Lees (South Taranaki), R. Dunklcy (Wanganui), C. Cleland (Manawatu), F. A. Laws (Wellington), R. Henderson (Hastings), D. M'Carthy .(Hawke's Bay), G. Logan (Nelson), L. Sievers (Otago), J. M. Robb (Southland), secretary. ' . The annual report stated that although tho past season was an uneventful one, the association still continned to thrive in a most satisfactory manner. Towards the latter end of the past 6easdn, Mr. H. E; Card tendered his resignation from, the Management Committee owing to his leaving Wellington. This was accepted with regret, but the vacancy was not filled on account of the approaching end of the year. The handbook was again published and received encouraging support, over 1000 copies being disponed of. The balance-sheet showed a balance of assets over liabilities of £20. This considering that tho usual financial assistance of the New Zealand Rugby Union was not requested : last year was considered, satisfactory.' The adoption of the report and balance-sheet was agreed to. The following officers were elected: — Patron: His Excellency tho Governor; president, Mr. R. M. Isaacs; vicepresidents, Messrs. H. Card,' G. Griffiths, C. W. Warden. L; G. Bassett, W. Horne, W., Powdrell, A. Proctor, :A. G. Sbrimpton, H. E. Hiddlestone, J. M'lntyre, and the presidents _of the - Southland and; Otago Associations; secretary and treasurer, Mr. J. M. Robb; Management Committee, Messrs. J. H. Laughteu, F. A. Laws, L. Sievers, G. Howe, F. A. Hemploman; auditor, Mr. C. H. Manson.
It was decided to republish tho handbook again.. The next annual meeting will be held in Wellington next Easter. 'It was resolved that Nelson and Manawatu should be considered Metropolitan Associations, .and .'also' that names of referees ' for inter-union matches •_ should only bb invited from ■Metropolitan Associations. • A' bonus of £10 was voted to-the secretary. '.
' THE; ANNUAL CONFERENCE. -'The annual conference of the association was' also' held yesterday, Mr. Isaacs presiding. The delegates' woro welcomed by Mr.' S. S. Brown, chairman of the' Wellington Rugby Union, Mr. H. Card, nresident of the. WelAssociation, and the chairman. Practically tho whole of the day was spent, considering ' remits from the various associations. These,' which were more or less routine matters, will be printed and forwarded: to' various .associations.
After a considerable discussion as to referees' expenses it was decided that expenses, incurred by referees acting in inter-union matches should forward their accountsj compiled in accordance with the scale provided by ; the Now Zealand Rugby.Union. '■■. . .!'•'.- Mr.■■; Sievers ■ moved , that the New Zealand Rugby Union'be written 1 to stating that the local associations affiliated to the N.Z.R.A. are anxious to know what has been done to'bring into force tho alterations to tho laws of the gamo as provided by tha last meeting of delegates. The motion was lost.

NORTHERN UNION GAME. • In answer to a telegram from the Auckland League, Mr. D. G. Frascr (Petone) on Thursday night wired back' stating that it was impossible to organ- '«> a team to meet the Englishmen in Wellington. Mr. Fraser, in an interview, said that although a Wellington matoh was impossible, ho thought that probably arrangements would bo mada for a. New Zealand team no meet tho visitors, most likely on the Basin Reserve. .
