REI EREES' ASSOCIATION.
' The annual meeting of the Wellington •Referees' Association-was held last evening, llr. H. Card presiding. The annual report of the secretary, Air. L. Si overs, stated that, during the past year, the membership increased by ll>, .and it now comprised 50 active, and. 21) non-active members. The Classincation Committee had raised eight junior members to senior status. During the past season, only three members had been called upon to officiate at inter-union matches. An effort had been made to form an ambulance class, but the proposal was not gone on with, owing to the lateness of the season, and several members elected to join the Y.M.C.A. Class. The annual conference of referees, under the auspices of the Now Zealand Association, liad been held at New Plymouth, and tho annual meeting and conference of that body would be held m Wellington at Easter. Two propositions' would be discussed at that meeting: lhat the New Zealand Referees' Association be a movablo body; and that the association meet biennially, instead of annually. The financial. position of-. the association was still-in a healthy condition. The- chairman, in moving tho adoption of the report, remarked that 401 matches had been playdd during the past season, and not one had lapsed through want of a referee. The association wished to recognise specially; tho work dono by the Petone branch. Ho would suggest that an ambulance corps should be formed this year, in . the interests of. junior players more particularly. Tho. report and balance-sheet were adopted. Officers for tho year were elected as follow Chairman, 'Mr. D. M'Kenzie; vice-chairman, Mr. H. Card; hon. secretary, Mr. L. Sievers (re-elected); Classification Committee, Messrs. H. Card, T. Quinn, ■ and W. Spencer; Revision Committee, Messrs. D. M'Kenzie, H. Card, and L. Sievers; representatives 1 on the Appointment Board, Messrs. W. Spencer, W. Roberts, and G. Howe; delegate to New Zealand Referees' Conference, Mr. .L'\ Laws; vice-president.;of 'the New Zealand Referees' -Association, Mr. H. Card; hon. auditor, Mr. J. F. O'Sullivan. The association passed a vote of condolence with -Mr. : W; Roberts in the recent'loss of his mother; -
' ST.,-JOHN'S FOOTBALL CLUB.' The annual meeting of St. John's Rugby Football Club was held last night, Mr. x. Crawford presiding. The committee reported a successful season and a membership of il. One third-class and one'fourth-olass team were entered for the championship. Tho former met with well-deserted success, annexing the championship, without tho loss of a match. The other team was better than its record showed. The report referred' with regret to tho death of Mr.-C.. A. Redgrave, one of its vicepresidents,'andl to the'loss of the services of the treasurer (Mr. E. Crawford) and the captains of both teams (Messrs. P. A. Darby and F. 'Eedgraye) -wjio had left Wellington. Tho committee desired to impress on mombers the desirability of consistent i.training and recommended that- a junior team .lie entered .in this year's championships. : : The baltmce-sheet showed a credit' balance of £5 16s.
Tho report; and balance-sheet were adopted.

It was resolved' to enter a junior team, a fourth-class team, and if there are sufficient members, a third-class team alsd, for this year's ( champio"£iships; The first practico will be held neit Saturday aftornoon. . -.
: ; ; COVERS CLUB. The annual meeting of the Rovers (Association) Football Glub ...was held in ArmitV rooms . last evening, Mr. J. B. Paton presiding. Tho adoption of the report and balance-sheet,-.a precis of which has been published, was agreed to without discussion.' Officers for the ensuing season were elected as under Patron, Mr. A. J. Abbott; president, Mr. P.-D. Leslie; vice-presidents, Messrs. A. L. Herdman, M.P.; T. Shields, A. J. Fernie, C. GqXlber, H. L. Godber, G. Pinnock, Bolton, S. G. Ross, and A. It was decided to place on record the thanks of the club to Mr. Quayle, one of the strongest supporters of the club. Thanks were also extended to the retiring officers and to Messrs. Auld, Paton, and Godber. . ■'
Mr. A. J. Abbott wrote wishing the club every success, and enclosing a cheque for ,£1 Is. p as a donation towards tho funds of the club. Mr. A. J. Fernie wrote in a similar strain, and forwarded a donation of 10s. Gd. towards the club funds.
