The returning-officer notified that Councillor Baldwin had been ; elected (unopposed) to represent the combined district of' Lower Hutt' and Eastbourne on the • Wellington Hospital Board. ■ The Minister for. Internal. Affairs forwarded -a copy of an. Order-in-Council .(amending' an Order-in-Council of June 7, 1909), excluding from the borough of] Petone the area of land in Gear. Island, included in the'borough , by .the previous proclamation..'. The Hutt River Board; wrote regarding maintenance required .to. the southern ' access of the? council's . river beach. Instructions were given council, that the work should be attended to. . The Hutt River Board wrote granting permission to, the engineer to put a cuk vert through the stop-bank in connection with the Everest Creek diversion. The Commissioner o'f. Crown Lands wrote granting permission to carry the culvert across the .Wilford Settlement. .A petition was received from eight residents wh6 desired, the council to fill up a hollow in White's Line East, and to'straighten the road. ; The council, af■ter hearing a;'deputation,' decided to get an. estimate- from the engineer regarding the cost of the work proposed. , The Wellington City Council forwarded a copy of-,the City Engineer's report showing ■; the expenditure on the Hutt Road for the ending February 22, and the. estimated expenditure up to March .31 to ,be ' . The Post 'and Telegraph Department notified' that .they were prepared to remove the cables from the Hutt Bridge, within. one month from receiving notice, should "the. council at any time find it necessary to'have them removed. The Petone''Borough Council wrote that tho Mayor (Mr. C., W. Jl'Ewan) and Councillors Young and Trueman had been appointed as delegates on the Joint ; Amalgamation Committee. The Mayor , remarked that, as the committee would not meet , untir July, it was not necessary to;appoint the council's representatives yet. , In regard to the proposed draft agree-ment-for the, control of the Taita Cemetery, the Mayor moved that the council should not fall- into; line .with .the agreement. " The resolution was passed, councillors agreeing that support should withheld from a. proposal which permitted one contributing local body to withdraw ; from the , agreement, They were not .in, favour of .the proposal of Potone Borough Council, being of opinion that all local bodies'should be parties. The borough engineer reported • that the laying of the sewers on the Western Hutt Road was completed, and the main was now completed in Pharazyn Street. Five connections with the water supply had been made, during the past fortnight, making a total of 523 to March 11. Mr. M. E. Dennistoii wrote stating his intention to purchase sections in Park Avenue, Hutt county, 206 yards from the borough boundary, and asked on what terms the -council would be prepared'' to supply the premises with gas and water. The council agreed that the engineer should report on the cost, and also referred the matter ty the Hutt. County Council. .- Accounts were. passed for payment as follow:—District Fund Account, .£1737 14s. Id.; to be refunded from .£IO,OOO loan, .£lB9 14s. 2d.; .£52,000 loan re Everest's Creek, .£39 13s. 2d.; total, ,£1987 Is. sd. .
