Club states, that, although none ■of their .iteams achieved anything' remarkable'last year," the club nevertheless experienced - a fairly successful . season. The senior team commenced well,-but did not maintain ,the. dash that characterised their performances in previous years., .'ln the second round they met the. stronger teams firsthand then ,the competition was closed. Of-11 matches played, they won 4, drew 1, and lost 6. . Goals for, . 28'; against, 32. The junior .team were..even more successful than they , were the pre-: nous year, and. showed good form all through the season.. They were caused great inconvenience and disappointment, however,'by being unable to play several matches set down to them, because of the new city grounds being unavailable for play. Their record for the. season was Matches played 10, won i, drew 2, lost ,4. Goals for, 20; against; 15. , As was expected, the third-class team were again very weak, : and ■ were unable to. improve upon their position of the previous year. Tie club will'this year have to consider the advisability ot" discontinuing, the third' eleven, owing to ■ the shortage of active membership. In representative matches the club was represented by Messrs. Christie and Ralph. The .dull views with great satisfaction , the winning of the Plunket Shield by the Wellington representatives, and trusts that it. will act as a stimulus to the game in this city. The club was in a gonil financial . position, and .it wished tn tender its" sihccr'ost 'thanks to all whohad come forward .to assist in that direction, particularly to those who made it a practice to help .every year, and tn the trustees of Wesley Church, who, by a generous special donation, had freed the club from any financial " anxiety in the immediate future. ■ ; ' . .
