Those.in charge of the, outing- did-their best under the circumstances, and an • interesting .prograriime of sports was gone through. i ■ ?! • About 150 sat down to dinner in 'the pavilion, amongst those present being Messrs. Ronayne. (General Manager), \Vhitcombe "(Traffic Manager), Baxter (Stores Manager), and Wynne (Signal and Electrical Engineer). A number of others,, including the Hon. J. A. Millar, "who had signified their intention to be present, were unable to attend. i The sports programme .resulted as follows:—7s Yards Swim (handicap): Baxter, .1; Jenkinson,-2j M'Lean, 3. 50 Yards :Swim ' (handicap): M'Lean, 1; Alpe, 2; Jenkinson and Baxter, 3 (dead heat). 100 ?ards Swim (championship): Jenkinson, M'Lean, 2; 'Alpe, ,3. 100 Yards Run (handicap): Murphy, 1; Power, 2; Fraser, ?•, Married Men's 100 Yards Championship: ivheyburne, 1"; Thomson, 2. Single Men's.loo Yards Championship :,Fama, 1; Fraser,. 2; Power,; .3. ' ' Wheel Race: M'Lean and Benton, 1; Baxter and Goodley, 2; Power.and Alpe, 3. Relay Race: Locomotive branch (I'ama, Ewart, >Tlnerney,; Baxter),' .1; . head office (Nash, Levick. M'Kay, M'Lean), 2; stores branch (Power, Fraser, M'Leod; Alpe), 3. . A number of events had to be postponed and may be dccided at some future' date.
