VARIOUS AUTHORISATIONS. Owing' to the accumulation of business requiring its attention Cabinet will hold a number of meetings during, the ensiling week.' Yesterday sittings vehe held both in the morning and the afternoon, when a number of matters, principally relating to the .work of the various Departments, were Considered.. It is understood that Cnbinet will hold'other lengthy sittings to-day. " Following is a'list of business transacted yesterday:—. ; ! . Votes totalling .in .regard to railways, and to £13,800 in Tespect of roads were passed; Tenders Were ordered to be invited for tha erection of a courthouse at Opotiki. Instructions , were ordered for an investigation of the disease affecting trout. : Tenders were accepted for the supply of grass seed for the Lands Department; for the erection of a bridge on the Big Whanganui; ahd for the erection of a courthouse at Taumarunui. The necessary authority was given for the erection of railway buildings on the Stratford-Ongarue line. . • A new district, comprising Tauranga and To Puke, was created under the Roads Department. • Plans and specifications wer& ordered to be prepared in connection' with a new police station to bo. erected in the Johnsonville district.' . The vacancy on the Palmerston North Licensing Committee was filled by the appointment of Mr. C. M. Clarissn to the position. .
