HOSPITAL TRUSTEES.

The fortius:Ely meeting of tho Wellington Hospital \austees was held yesterdaj morning.' The Hon. C. M. Luke/M.L.C, presided, and other,trustees present were: Messrs. K. C. Kirk r ,G.'.London, J. W. M'Ewan, F. T. Moore, Agmen Smith,.J.' Trevor, G. Nash, and J. Dunks. ' The return of in-patients showed that there were 222 in the hospital on. March 7, as against 229 on the corresponding date of last year: •. The following' is the summary of meetings held during the last twelve 1 months: Board, 26; House Committee (full board), 26; Finance Committee, 25;. Leasehold Committee, 9; Electric Light and Power. Committee, 5; special meetings, 10; total, Mr. Kirk moved an amendment to Rule 1, with the object of removing the limit as to the.numberof physicians, surgeons, etc., composing the. honorary staff. He explained that the present rule fixed the number, of the. staff and prevented ; the trustees from increasing the number. Tho motion was'seconded by Mr. F."T. ' Moore, and supported by the chairman, who pointed out that it would not tie. the hands of the board in any way..' The board unanimously agreed to the motion. The House Committee recommended:— That an honorary physician be appointed for the children's wards, and that application be invited for the position from lady practitioners; that applications, be invited for honorary surgeons, honorary physicians, and two ophthalmic surgeons for tho following two years; that an ointment and emulsion mill be.purchased for the dispensary; that application be made to .the District Board for balance of funds due to the Hospital Trustees; that Messrs., Hunt and MlJonald.be paid. .£635 10s., progress payment, on account of contract, Infectious Diseases Hospital, and that the deposit be refunded; that the chairman arrange with the Minister for Hospitals a suitable date for. affixing the. tablet to the Infectious Diseases Hospitjl. ?he re-; port.was adopted..
