The second week in March has been fixed for the poisoning of rabbits in the Rangitikei and Kiwitea Counties, and a demonstration in the use of poison will be given to farmers by a Government official at the next Hunterville stock sale. A deputation representing Marton Junction residents : waited on the Rangitikei Council at its,meeting on Saturday, and. asked that the council raise a loan of .£IOOO to construct a footpath from the Tutaenui Bridge to Marton Junction railway station. .It was decided to make application for the loan under the State Guaranteed Advances Deyartment. A council was appointed to define a special rating area. Application is to be made by the connoil for various loans totalling .£15,000 for road works in tho northern ridings of the county. The council agreed to support the application of the Mangaveka Chamber of Commerce to the Labour Department to havo the half-holiday altered from Wednesday to Thursday. It was decided to write to the Egmont Box Company pointing out that, upon receiving fuller information, the council finds that it will be detrimental to property-holders to construct th,e tramline along Hie Mangapapa Stream, as applied for by the company, and that they be asked to stay proceedings until the council's engineer has made a full' report on the whole matter. Tho treasurer reported that the credit balance (before the usual monthly payments) totalled ,£47-19 las. 2d. Accounts totalling ,£l6-10 were passed for payment.
