' LADIES'| RACES. ~ Tho ladies' branch of the' Swifts Swimming Club decided ..two races at Te Aro Baths yesterday, one for senior members .and onoior schoolgirls. Tho girls' racethe heats of which were got off last Wednesday—attracted twenty-sis entrants, tho final resulting' as follows:-Nola Bentley, 4sec., 1; Amy Cairns, 6sec., 2; Elsie Turner, ssec., 3. Also started: Abby Levy, teec.; .-.Olive MT,ean,. Gsec.; Mary Chartres, Mabel M'Cabe, and Jessie Ward 4sec.; and Claudia Jones, scr. Time! 4G 2-ssec. ;
The race for seniors resulted as follows:—Miss Hina Murrell, Gsec., 1; Miss Stella Murrell, Gsec., 2; Miss Olive Smith Gsec., 3. Also started: Misses D. Webb 125ec.;.0. Moys, Bsec.; N. Murrell,. 7see.; K. King, 4sec.; 0: M. Arthur and'M. Wilton, scr. This was the best contested race yet held by the ladies, all the competitors finishing in a bunch.
SCHOOL CHAMPIONSHIPS. The schoolboys' and schoolgirls' swimming championships are to be decided this afternoon at Te Aro Baths, over four distances, viz.: 25, 50, 75, and 100 yards. Tho first and second on aggregate points will receive gold and silver medals from the N.Z. Amateur Swimming Association.
