■ _— KILLS HERSELF AND , BABY. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright Melbourne, March i. This residence of Constable D.ay was destroyed by fire, and Mrs. Day and an infant perished. Two other children were badly burned. CUTS HER THROAT AND SETS FIRE TO THE HOUSE. (Rec. March 5, 1 a.m.) Melbourne, March 4. In connection with the burning fatality, it has been discovered that Mrs. Day's throat was cut. The oircumstances indicate that the ■ woman, who was in poor health, suddenly became demented, set fire to the house, cut her throat, and then dashed into the flames. A fire had been lighted in each of four rooms. , A neighbour rescued two little boys, who were found screaming near a bed which' was on 6to. The door was barricaded. Ho subsequently returned and endeavoured to rescue tho baby, but the flames beat him back.
