Hegattu on; Saturday was fine till the last raco was over, and then suddenly rain set ■ in from tno south-west, and the lake became very rough. There was n fairly large attendance for-the-first-race. The water at that stage was smooth, except at the southern end. Results are as follow:—; Senior Pours (two miles).—Union, 1; Canterbury. 2. Lyttelton also started, but dropped out after going a little over n quarter of. a mile. It appears that one seat broke, and the boat swamped and capsized in tleop water. It was, however, righted,, and brought, in by two or the crew and the cox. Union led all tlio way, and won easily by two lengths and a half. Time, 13min. 22sec. Youths' Double Sculls.—Cure, 1;. Akaroa, 2;. Sumncr, 3. Untimed. Won by two and a half lengths. Maiden No. 1, 1; Union, 2; Timaru, 3. Won by a length and. a quarter, three lengths separating, the second and third boats. Untimed. Junior Doubles.—Lyttelton (scratch) and Union rowed over the course. Senior Pairs.—Akaion, 1; Canterbury, :2. Union also competed. AVon by about twenty lengths. The race was rowed in the rain. . .. Youths' Fours.—Union, 1; .Timaru, 2; Canterbury No. I, 3. Won by two lengths. Simmer, 'Christchureh, Amateur, Avon (two crews), and Lyttelton also competed. Lyttelton dropped out early, one of the outriggers having broken. Maiden Double Sculls.—Union, 1; Altaroa, 2; Canterbury, 3. Timaru, Christchurch Amateur, Lyttelton, ami Stunner also competed. This race furnished n close finish, Union winning by half a length, one length separating the second and third boats. Junior Fours.—Canterbury, 1; Union, 2. Avon also competed. Won by a length and ii quarter. Senior Double Sculls.—Union, 1; Ak.iroa, 2. Canterbury, also competed. This event; furnished a most exciting finish, about two yards dividing the first and seoontl crews. Canterbury nlso were close up. '
