SWIMMING.
The final distance of the 50yds. swimming race, arranged by the combined Tax, Valuation, and Advances Department, was got oft at Thorndon Baths last evening, and resulted as under:—C. Paul, 1; J. Lees, 2; T. 'White, 3. Time, 39sec. A diving competition was also decided, and resulted.in a win for C. Fraser. T. Nowbold, A. Prichard, S. Clark, C. Morrison, C. Paul, A. Vallance, and H. Valentine also competed. A 220 yards handicap race was decided by tho Victoria Colkgo Swimming Club last evening. The result was:—Q-. IU. Cleghotn, 1; T. Ronayhc, 2; S. R. Mason, 3. Tho following also swam:—E. Rutherford, N. Hancock, and F. A. do la Mare. Tho winner's time was 2min. 56sec, and the race was won by about four yards. The officers' training corps camp (nino days) interfered sadly with training, arid was responsible for tho tfinallness of tho field.
