The sixth annual competitions bf tho South Island Rifle Association were continued to-flay on RedctilTs Hange: When the Canterbury and' Otago matches were fired conditions were much more favourable than was the case 'on Saturday whon -the Government prize-firing took place, although • the light, which was bright, varied considerably, and the wind was inclined at ■ times to be somewhat puffy.. The visiting competitors included' a team from thu Karori Rifle Club (Wellington), and tho total entries were very satisfactory, numbering . closo on 100. Competitors, in addition to those from Wellington, were present from all parts of the South Island. Captain King and Lieutenant ■ Gee, of the Linwootl Rifles, two cx-champion of tho association wore among tho entrants, the former being tho first, belt winner in 1905, and tho latter the championship winner in 1900. In No. 1 1 Match two possibles were recorded at the 200 yds. by Corporal Munro (Murihiku) and Rifleman Hay (Karori). Lieutenant Gee (Linwood), Sergeant Feeley teraldme), and Corporal Munro (llurihiku), with 34, Fere the highest'scorers at tho 600 yds. range, five other competitor?, scoring 33. The shooting by soino of the tyros was most meritorious, Rifleman York (Waitahuna) putting on 34 31 and 30, while Lioutenant Charlton (Po--lynnoa), Privato G. Jones (Linwood), ana Rifleman Lujsetti.
