MILITARY COLLEGE.

During the course of some observations on Federal defence .matters, Mr. J. Cook, '.Minister for Defence, thus referred to the .subject of: a . military coUege?^' r While hiving the question or a military college under' consideration, I thought it better to wait and ;oonsult Lord Kitchener before ;laying down the lines : of it. ■ That has been done, and in a few days the first step will have,beon taken;.to establish, a college to train Australians in the arts of modern warfare, and make them as efficient as any soldiers in the world. Everything depends upon the .college, which .'.will -be considerable in size, bemg v 'set up on proper 'lines.' ! And it is that aspect of the question which X have."lately had under consideration. Not the legist important matter is the education of;' our naval officers, and men who will furnish, the'personnel of the new navy. .At pre., sent wo are busy trying to find a site for the naval training college to be built, out of the moneys collected by the Lord Mayor. I : have already consulted him and several State officers on the question of securing ii suitable silo m the vicinity of Sydney. '■ No time must bo lost in gotting the naval college and requisite training schools for the navy going.
