Eumours regarding a oertain volunteer training camp at the Hutt Park , are be-' ing discussed in local military . circles. .There are at present three .corps encamped at the Hutt. In one of these a canteen was established without permission, and; it is stated, freely patronised. Some of the me'nj it is alleged, got out; of hand, and acts of insubordination: are'reported :to' have, been' committed. Captain J. v E. Duigan, Engineer Staif Instructor; who is exercising a general supervision over-all thrco camps, has taken prompt action in the matter, and steps have been taken-to immediately suppress the consumption of liquor. . ', EEFLE CHAMPIONSHIP MEETING. . !••' On account of the date of Field Marshal Lord- Kitchener's visit being, so. close to that of the opening-day of the New Zealand rifle ohampionship; meeting atTrentliam—Thursday, March 3—Colonel E. J. Collins, Chief Executive Officer of the Dominion Eifle Association, has. decided ,to alter the date of the. opening until the following day, Friday, March ■!. This ■will allow of Auckland;, competitors attending the Kitchener manoeuvres/in the' northern city and thereafter, reaching Wellington in time for the opening of the trifle meeting. . 1. . •
