DISCUSSED AT 'EKETAHUNA./ V v The Eketahuna branch of tie Farmers', ■Onion discussed railway'matters', at its last meeting, the carae; inducing the discussion being- the inadetpateness of the present trains to cope with the'carriage of stock and goods; -..ThVfoUowing reso-lution'.-was carried: "That this branch wishes to uphold the Minister -for Bailways in-his endeavour to eradicate trains which are .clearly run-.at a.iloss, but,it appears - that .'the drastic' reduction .of trains, as. lately enforced, is likely to cause loss to : the' Department by .making 'settlers hesitate to travel, .owing :to the slowness of seirices, and the difficulty in reaching and returning from other centres within a reasonable time." '•
The meeting considered, that all purposes would'be served if the' Department ran the'train which leaves' Wellington at 4 p.m. on .to Eketahuna or Woodville,' ana arranged' for .it to .return in the morning in' timoto connect with , the ; 7 ;a.m. Masterton-Wellington "train.
