THE BISHOP AND THE CHURCH.
.Sir,—Will you permit me to ask a question ? I notice in your paper the following statement made by Bishop Neligan:— "My blood boils , when I, hear 'politicians making their-speeches ; in ■ the -'towns, where, votes are easily gained, and . inaohines easily. worked, .while the pioneers in'the are 1 sticking in the mud. The politicians and'trades unions' in the towns are living on those men and women." Now that is very, interesting. Is this ■ the. Bishop Nelig^n. who stays at the very' best hotels whenever, he travel, and who drives a motor-oar ? Is this the same. Bishop. Neligan who lives in a bishop's ..palace? If .60,." perhaps ; his Lordship: will; tell .ua : what the Church, or he himself, is doing for the poor backblocks settler ? It might give the politician a lead. The sooner we get 'back to monks, sackcloth and ashes; the' sooner, will tie . tide turn for the real Christians. Let the- Synodßmen wake up, and instead of quaiTelling : about renioaelling the hymn ; boote try and remodel ;'the Olruich.—l am, eto., ■ ■ ■ - . BEATRIX
