The Amalgamated Carpenters and Joiners' Union, is appealing to the, Conciliation Council to reduce the hours of labour per diem so as to . give employment to more tradesmen than at present, so as to minimise unemployment. It: also asks the granting of time off during 'working hours to allow apprentices to attend technical schools or approved classes. EDUCATIONAL CONFERENCE, . Dunedin, January 27. ' The Technical School Board, in'granting permission to the director to attend the Educational Conferetice in Wellington, expressed extreme regret that at. so important -a conference tho Technical Boards were not to be' represented.
