I'ines and costs amounting in all to. 225. Gd were 1 imposed in: each case.: A number of men/were also..charged with being found in a common gaming-house/ During, thei hearing of the case: a nice point was/raised by the.police, who submitted that.as the charges .arose'out. of a recent case in which the proprietor, of > the house inrquestion: 'was fined, the conviction should be accepted as'evidence. The magistrate .gave an'' adverse ruling on the point,' saying that the police : must bring other evidence to prove, the nature of the house. Creagh) regardinj'the proposed line to connect the borough with the:seaside.
