A ; meeting of theHutt Borough Councu, held Inst evening, was attended bythe Mayor (Mr. E. P. Bunny), nnd'Coirn; ciUors Baldwin, Hayes, Auson, Kempthorne,. Cloro,, Slacoskill, and Barlow. All amended opinion regarding loan expendrture was received from Mr. C.P. Skorrdtt, K.C. :Mr;- Skerrettwrote that he had"assumed that Mr. Mestayer's investigations had beon exclusively for the purpose of;ascertaining what amount, of the several items;raised by the loan had been over-expended. He had found, however, that ■Mγ. - Mestayer's report had been necessary both: to enttble works contemplated by the.original.loan to be constructed, and.'for the purpose of ascertaining tho amount which . the borough would require. to raise .over and above tna original loan.
