The cause 'is' supposed to have been worry over losing the license of his billiard-room at last meeting 'of the Borough Council. , V The. license was taken; away owing to his having been' ■fined JBIO for keeping a 'gaming-house. ■Deceased was formerly a hotelkeeper here, and,; leaves a wife and family.
At the city morgue yesterday morning, Dr. M'Arthur, City Coroner, held an inquiry into the circumstances' attending the death of William Haworth, a sailor, who expired suddenly .while.. about ■to enter. the Trentham racecourse on Saturday morning. Dr.. Kington Fyffe, who had made a post-mortem examination of the deceased,, stated in 'evidence that the cause ofdeathwas syncope, and a verdict to that offect was pronounced by the Coroner. Deceased had .only been in Wellington since January 19. ,
