He also paid a tribute, to. the services of Messrs. Avery and Button, and to many others, for past efforts tin fostering the growth of the Church f in the community. JSastbourne was popularly , supposed to.be given up to pleasure-seeking. Ho hoped that , the blessing of God would be -uHth its people, evon jn the midst of thoir ploasures. • . •' . The Bishop, having placed tho 6tone in position, congratulated thoso present upon having arrived at such a satisfactory stage in the development of their Church; •Thora was' a 'distinct- need .for this Church, a need which was'generally felt. It had frequently been a pleasure to liim to;visit'the district and conduct tha.servico.: Thoy had a very fine pleasure resort in Eastbourne, for; health and, refreshment, as he, could personally testify, and it was a wise endeavour to concontrate .tho attention of 'so rapidly .iticroasing a population upon the presence among them of tlio ■ spirit ;of God. He uj-ged them not to neglect tho social side of their Church,'and by good fellowship and' harmony mate.: the position of their church stronger.
