LORD RANFURLY'S ESTATES.
;.. '.', HISTOEIC TOWN FOE. SALE.; -.-. . , The London correspondent of the Auckland ["Star" writes :-rGreat interest is being aroused in the approaching sale by Lord Ranfurly of what is practically the whole of the town of Dnngannon (Co. Tyrone), historic as being the birthplace 111 years ago, of the Irish-volun-teer movement. On one hand it was rumoured that the sale is the direct result of the; Budget proposals, whilst on the other it was asserted-that] the Earl of Eahfurly in-, tends* to make his permanent residence in New Zealand, of which he was formerly Governor. I have Lord Eanfurly's,authority for denying the latter statement.' '"There. is "no truth, his lordship told me this week, ''in the rumour you-mention; that I am going out to New Zealand to : take up . residence there, nor have I any.intention, of altering my methods of livin| between Ireland and London." • "It is quite true," .added Lord Eanfurly, "that I am selling most of my property in Ireland, but I am not selling the house, the private grounds, or the park.' The tendency of .Governments in the past in Ireland is to encourage a tenant proprietorship, and I have given each tenant the opportunity to buy his' holding, part of. a balance being offered: by auction on November 12, 16, and 17." • The Dungannbn property, which has been, in the Knox family aor over -200 years, will: be divided into about the 'same number of lots. It consists chiefly of -head, rents, -those of many ohnrches, schools, and:, other, public' buildings being-included in the sale. .'■
