WANGANUI MATTERS.
. The.' Minister for Education. has informed Mr. Hogan, M.P., that he. approves of the proposal to lease the Wnnganui Technioal and Infant, School sites. Legislation will be necessary to enable these sites .-to: be leased, and erection ! of.. technical and infant schools on other sites. An endeavour is to v be made' to pass.this legislation this session. v " - Mr. Hogan, MJ?., has been informed by tho Minister for- Internal. Affairs with reference to the proposal for. the leasing of portion of the present Wanganui .Cemetery land for building sites, that.as long as. the land is reserved for cemetery purposes it could hot bo leased,'except for short periods. If, however; the area in question was not required for burial purposes, fhe best- course'■- to .adoptwould be to apply to the Lands Department to change the purpose of the portion of the reserve.in.'question. In,that. event the question would then arise as to whether it should bo made an endowment for some local purpose or eold, and the proceeds expended ,in the purchase or maintenance of .another, cemetery for the borough of Wanganui.
