THE VICE-REGAL DANCE.

' SOME Or THE DRESSES. Tho dance given last night in tho Sydnoy Street Hail, by thoir Excellencies the Goverr nor and Lady Plunket was an exceedingly pretty one Tho decorations, which had hteu ! J so much admired at the previous dance, weio f repeated, and f;om ceiling to floor every inch of roof and wall was covered with broad altor- '' natingstnpe3 of pate pink and white. Round tho walls were hung wicaths of greenory, and over each doorway dark crimson curtains were draped. : s Hugo clumps of 'bamboo stood ranged along 1. the wall at the end of tho room, their gracc- ' ful foliage showing in effective relief against tho delicate pink and white. Tho stage had beeli removed, and this gave an appearanco of rauoh greater size to the room, and where ; • it had stood tho floor was oarpeted and fmnished with chans and couches, whilo tall nikou palms growing 6olidly from tho floor hftod shady tops over tho heads of those who sat besido them. Supper was served in tho > , room downstairs, which had been hung with :' c draperies of pole blue and white in alternating ~ 1 stripes, and the long tables were set out with . 1 palms and broad-leaved yuccas in high bowls, with silver-plate, and great quantities of sweet peas, purple, pink, and white, in mnnv littlo .' vase, lhero was nn awning down the sido i of tho building, where tho ground was car- ' peted and furnished with chairs, and tho various ante-rooms were furnished tor sitting out. .
