NEW WOOL STOKES. ■ 1 / The new J wool store,, which is to be erected ' for. the Harbopr Board,;' on the site of ; the nlu wood and iron shed, which was' destroyed by fire a few months ago, will be a" substantial-looking-brick. building, 62 feet 'high and 261 feet long with, a depth of 93, feet from the roadway in. Waterloo Quay towards the water-front.. A line of railway will run through it along the. landward side. It will contain two' new, wool presses, and ;will have two . flpprs, the upper story being, intended /chiefly for.wool-classing and sampling. It will, however, be strong, enough for neavy, storage, the construction being, steel and . concrete. There_wiU ; also be a gallery pver the railway new wool presses will be installed ■fn-.the .ground floor. A new hydraulic accumu.,5 r , , 7 s ? connection with the crancs ;will ,be installed at the northern end, where a ,3tore for, hoop-iTon and a'railwayman's o£sce ; will , also ;be placed. The roof .will be of the ! '.saw-tooth" pattern',. withsteel;-construction, lit willibo hidden by a parapet. Overhead gantry cranes, which will probably be electric-ally-driven, will Jtrarerso. the entlro J length of tno building. ;The;space, available for wool storage-on 'the ground floor will be 220'feet'by 73:fDet. The upper floor will be U fecit' wider, and the gallery 220 feet by 20 feet. The buildnig .is by Mr.... Marchbanks, : the board s engineer. •; Tenders 1 are : being' called w_close at. the next meeting of the board. The big temporary woolshed which" is being built near the Kings Wharf is about finished, jnd the hydraulic presses' erected by Messrs. W. Cable and Co. and S. Lute and Co., are already :in -operation.-, This shed, which has outside . platforms for; railway delivery,-;is the largest yet built by the Wellington Harbour Board. ." <■■■'
