November 18, 9 p.m.) - i Sydney, November 18, Before the Select Comnutteo of the Sonate, which is inquiring into tho press cable service, Mr. Wardell, secretary of the Victorian Country Preis Association, said he had never heard any complaints from country papers regarding tho manner in which they were served by the Australian Cable Association. It was the land fates which wore objected to. Asked if his association had ever tho question of establishing' an oversea news distributing agency, witness replied: "Never officially. Tho expense would be too great. It would cost'over'iSJOOO'a year to get tho cablegrams, irrespective* of the cost of employing men." Even if. a large nnmber of, papors took the cablegrams, his company wonld nover compete against tho Australian Cable Association.
