:■■ ANNIVERSARY CONVERSAZIONE. Tho anniversary conversazione of the' Kent' Terrace Presbyterian Church was very largely attended last evening. The Rev. Ji Kennedy Elliott, who presided, said that the occasion ; was one on which he could express his thanks for kindness which he had received, and'also indulge, in a retrospect. Ho felt grateful to tho community, and especially to his congrega- ! tion, for much kindness and forbearance that had been extended to him.. He was anxious, if possible, to mako his ministry more efficient than it had been. Sometimes it was suggested that that object could be assisted by preach: ing shorter sermons, but short sermons were, often tedious, and Ko did not favour ■ any change in this respect. The Rev. R. J. Porter expressed his pleasure at being present, and at meeting with a congregation which contained 6o large a proportion of jnen. Mr. Porter spoke especially on the need for showing appreciation. Parents' should express their thanks to teachers for the instruction given to their children, and tho minister should bo told when his discourses were of special help to members of tho congregation. ... Mr. Yung-liang Hwang, Chinese Consul, gave an address, m which he referred to tho ereat work done for China by the Presbyterian Church. The Rev. H.
