'TEACHING "SOCCER" TO RUGBY MEN. A'toam from Porirtia United Club journeyed to .Waikannie on Saturday* "The object of the. visit was to introduce the Association; game amongst'the.Waikanae Rugby players, .they having invited the Porirua' Soccer" men to come and show them what .the - game was like. The referee, : .Mr; E. Windley, had a busy time: during the game instructing the Rugby men on the laws of • the game,.;as their.methods; as might be expected, were very amusing to the spectators. '■'.-' One thing, however, was-plain, and that'-'was that the Waikanae players we're' eager to lenrri, atd; this gave the referee encouragement .'to show■ themi The game.was plavod in a very friendly spirit, and'at the' calf of time the Rugby; men insisted on nholher:.ien minutes, being played, as they were just beginning to understand the game. The Porirua team were- 'afterwards entertained, and their' captain inviWd the Waikanae team to Porirua to play a return, match.;. This invitation was accepted by tho Waikniiao team, and (a« the season is nearing the end) it was arranged to play tho match next Saturday;.
