TOKOMARU FREEZING WORKS.

A BIG CONTRACT.

Tenders closed .yesterday for what will probably be the- largest private contract ?l in ou East Coast—tbeerection of the lokomaru freezing' works buildings. The work is estimated to cost between £40,000 and £60,000. The tenders will be considered at a, meeting to-day. The works are to be erected on the shore of Tokomaru Bay, on ft Sijclf of land about 30ft. above high-water fISS' .have two storage lloors of' 100 ft. by 100 ft. each. A six-roomed resilience, and ten workmen's cottages will bo part of, the scheme. The work is to bo finished by October 20, 1910. Mr., A. S. Mitchell, of Wellington, is tho engineer, and architect. It is believed that the works will greatly help tho development of tho Waiapu .county. •

DAIRY FACTORY AND SJTORE. Iho annual report of tho Kaupokonui Uairy Company shows that last season 1822 tons 17cwt. of cheese and 68 tons of butter wero_niannfactured. Id. to be carried forward. The general store continues to do good business, and tho accumulated profits amount to £2279 Bs. 3d out of which will be paid tho cost of tho new warehouse just erected.
