Nearly all the leading players hare stayed for' it., ■Those who havfc qualified for the Manawatu ohawpionship, of which Mrs. Bevan (now New Zealand champion) is the holder, , are:—Miss Gould (Dunedin), 90: Miss Snodgrass .(Westport), 91 j Miss Gorrie (Auckland), 91; Mies Uiwper -(Wanganui), ,02;, Mrs. Bevan (Otaki), 021 Misa Chnstio (Oamaru), 01; Mrs. Bloomfield (Auckland), 85; Miss Brathwaito (Hastings), 95. The qualifying rund was the first round of the stroke handicap. ' Among the prominent players who failed to qualify were— Miss Rattray, 99; Mrs. Guy Williams, 97; Miss Mill, 97. The first eight begin match play for the championship to-morrow. ; ' . '- The Stroke Handicap. The Stroke Handicap resulted in a tie between Airs. Bloomfield (Auckland), 95—17—78, and Miss Gorrie (Auckland), 91—13—78, who will play off . later. Miss O'Brien (Manawatu) returned 101—25—76,: but was disqualified,' as she had lost'a ball up a tree at the ninth hole, and gone back to the tee and played another, but, on coming up to the tee again and finding the ball, 6he played that on instead of the one which she had put down. Curiously enough, it subsequently proved that two. experienced players; Mrs. Williams and Miss Mill, had done the some bogey. , The Foursomes. . . The Foursomes were won by Miss Gorrie and Miss Alison, 13—2 down. Three pairs tied for second place with 4 down.
