Newman (in tho chair), Messrs. J. E. Jonkinson, ILL C, J. I'. Luke, M.P., It. A. Wright, M.P., J. fi. Fitzgerald, G. Nash, R. C. Kirk, W, Noot, ami Geo. Willis, secretary. Tho Victoria College Council wrote ashing if tho committee could vote £05 towaiiU oi-ccling a galleiy in oue of tho rooms In tho college which had just been lined by tho unemployed carpenters. Tho work would enso £130, and would bo carried v out 'vvitli 'tho vote of £65 from the committee, and tlio Government subsidy. It was deoided that tli? committee could not make tho giant. ' It v/as to vote £2o towards lining a room for the college studoitts at the gymnasium, on condition that tho btudonts subscribq £25. Referring to ths proposal to commence the new wing at the college, tho chsiiimnn inovc<J as the college had collected £100 towards, this work,'tho committee should voto £100. Ttiiß, with the Government subsidy, would enal>!o £000 to be spent on foundations, etc., -vhioli would glvo employment to men on tho Relief Committee's list. Mr. Fitzgerald urged that if another G2OO was voted for tho Anderson Park wotks i considerable portion of thq reserve- cpnld bo made available for citizens'. Ho had hho absuranoo of tho City Engineer that if nn additional'£2oo was put into.tho park, five ncres reiorvo could bo inado playable ground. The sum of £1781 6s, 9tJ, has l>oen subscribed to date, and after this week's payments for wages have been made, £1301 9s. sd. will, have ,been paid •away gut of subscriptions, and £400 by way <»E Government subsidy. Tho balance, with tho oxcoptioii' of £75, has been earmarked for tho various works. f An improvement in tho approach to the Kilbirnio Road lias been efteclcd by tho relief gang which has been employed on the! Constable Strcet-Mt; Victoria' Road. About twejity-fivo new steps have/ been, put in on the grade on the southern sid? of the town end of tho ; Kilbirnio tunnel. ' The now gang which is to be placed on tho Constable Strect-Mt. Victoria. Road to-day will probably commence metalling tho road and forming tho approach from \ Constablo Street to the Town Belt. i
