MINISTERS IN THE SOUTH.
(By, Telegraph—Press Association.) Christchurch, August 10. The Acting-Prime Minister (the . Hon. -J. Carroll) was in town to-day.He leaves tomorrow night. for Wellington, en route to Gisborno. The Hon. J. A. Millar, Minister for Sailways,. also arrived from Wellington to-day. Ho intends remaining here till Friday, when ho will possibly, leave for Dunedin. The Hon. T. Mackenzie went south by the first express to-day. ' He will join the Hon. It. M'Kenzio in Southland and_ accompany him over the route of the Catlin's River railway." Invcrcarglll, August 10. The Minister for Public-Works and Miaea. (the Hon. R. M'Kenzio) paid a flying visit to Watau to-day,' hearing several deputations on local matters and returnipg to liivercargill m the evening. On Wednesday tho Minister will inspect tlio Waimahaka tailway construction works; on Thursday,: tho Waikaia and Waikaka extension' woiks; on. Friday the Catlins River construction; tnd. on Saturday lie will visit Kaitangata. On Saturday liigJit he wifll bo banqueted in Balclutha, and early next week will proceed overland by tho Roxburgh-Lawrence route.
