FIRE IN PIPITEA STREET.
A small fire broke out at 9.5 p.m. yesterday in an-.eight-roomed two-story dwelling, No. 30 Pipitea Street, Thorndon, owned and occupied .by Mr. Walter Francis. The fire_ .was caused by a' lighted candle in :a downstairs, bedroom coming" in contaot' with the window, curtain. The bedroom, and' its contents" were damaged by fire, but the rest of the.house was untouched. The insurances : were—On the building," J6BSO; and on the contents, .£250 in'the South-British Office.' ' ■ •
Tho Minimax Hand Fire Extinguisher, which has put out over 8000 fires-since January, 1904, would have made short 'work of a' fire of this description, and without causing the damage usually caused by the U6e of -water. It was awarded first prize and gold medal at the Royal !Agricultural. Show at Sydney'in -1908.—Advt.
