August 11, 0.20 a.m.). . ; ■ London, August io. : A sad drowning accident has occurred off :the coast of Scotland, resulting in the death' of Mr. Alan Fergusson (son of the lata Sir James Fergusson, formerly' Governor of 1 New Zealand, wlio was killed in the Kingston earthquake) and his wifo and chauffeur. Mr. Alan Forgusson and his party ■ left a'small seaport village in Kirkcudbrightshire," in a motor launch.' In the boat with him were his wifo, two friends, and the chauffeur. ; ' > The launoh caught fire owing to the upsetting of an oil stove used for coo&ing purposes, and all efforjts to suppress the flames ■failed. Filially, tHe fire forced the party to leave the launch, and they were, compolled : to take the water, witih life-belts on, two miles from shore. Mr. Fergusson, his wife, and the ohanffeur' (fere drowned. Their friends were saved.
