NURSES IN DISPENSARIES.
(By Tolecrftpli.—Special Correspondent.) ■ Auckland, August 9; .The Inspector-General .of-Hospitals (Dr. Valiritine), in reply "to the Auckland Hospital Board's communications as to the training of nurses in dispensing, expressed the opinion in a letter received .by ■ the board this afterriobn .that there was a great deal to bo said in ! favour of such an alteration in the Pharmacy Act; so that theso' assistants, male or female, who wero doing work in hospital dispensaries might qualify themselves ; for registration under the said Act, without necessarily sorving any portion of .their apprenticeship in an open chemist's shop. He thought it would be of considerable use to the nursos.m their fourth year if they so desired it that they should assist in tho dispensary, so that in the oVcnt of their subsequently becoming matrons, in country hospitals they, would ,be able'to carry out the necessary dispensing in the absence of the medical' superintendent.
