|....A''LETTER AND A/DEATH/ ; '.An inquest-was held at" Petone on.Saturday'morning, .before Dr. M'Arthur, S.M., touching thef death of an- old .Maori, Wi Hemara, who had been living at Hutt Road. During the course of proceedings, the question as to whether a brawl had preceded the,old man's death -was raised. \ ; . . The' Coroner returned a verdict in accord-, ance-with .the medical evidence.' He then made reference to an anonymous letter that had been received by the police; stating that there had been a rowin the house, and that the old man'was so injured as to cause his death.' He was satisfied that there was no truth i in the story, and■: characterised , the writer as a coward for. not giving evidence to substantiate his story; ; ■ ■■'.'.'■
