It is probable that the judges appointed to deal with tho appeal will meet jn Wellington. Tho Wellington Pony and Galloway Raoing Club intend to introduce a system of fixod colours at their meetings in order to do away with the confusion that is sometimes caused by owners ohanging their colours at ehort notice., Under tbo new system about twenty sets of colours will bo selected, ae distinct as possible from one another, and will bo numbered from I to 20. No 1 in a raco will always carry tho same colours, No. •2 the same, and so on. A notice boaid with a description of the colours will bo placed in a conspicuous place, and so a spectator, after backing his fancy, may refer to the board, make a mental not© of tho colours carried, and be easily able to follow any horeo through a race. Tbo system mayhavo some disadvantages, but the v management intend" giving it a trial.
