He had been in .failing health for about a fortnight, but ! his end ivas unexpected. Mr. Hall was raarriritl in 1880 to o, daughter of the. late Mr. D.'" Mnnson, Rivcrsdale, and is survived by a ) wife, two eons, and four daughters. In agricultural and pastoral matters Mr. Hall was a man of Jteen discrimination and great enterprise. His death removes one of the best-ltnoivn agriculturists'in Southland. ATTEMPTED BUICIDE. Dunedln, July 24, A man named Robert Lawson, steamboat fireman, who had been living ashore for about h month, and who had )*:cn drinking, attempted to commit suicide on Saturday afternoon.by shooting himself with a pistol. Some friends hrsard the report of the shot arid found him bleeding freely with a wound in the cheek. He was removed to the hospital.
