Baker, Lieutenant-Governor of Bengal, warning tbe perpetrators of recent outrages that; the time had arrived for "moro than | talk." »' Tho Master of Elibank replied' that Sir E.'.N. , Baker's speech was: both timely and sensible. ,Ho further informed Mr. Smoaton (Liberal member for, Stirling) that Sir : .E. N. Baker had always been one of the foremost Indian reformers.
