A passenger by the steamer Suva, which passed tho Middlctou Reef on Juno 27, and whq, on a previous voyage, had photographed tho ivrc-ck of the Annasona, saw on tho last occasion what he took to be another wreck on tho reef. 110 called tho captain's attention to it, but the latter said it wne aiii old wreck, and that sometimes at' low water tho two were visible.
[Tho wreck occurred on Jnno 18, and ac cording to tbe alovo cablegram, tho S aTl passed on June 27. It was not till J n i r {o that tho Tofiia rescued the castaways. Law. testimony, however, does not coincide with Palmers—hae stated that the sfeumcr Snvn passed shortly after tho wreck but did not see tbo cutaways. Had she done so the woman and children would have been saved and seven others ]
