HUTT BOROUGH COUNCIL.

The fortnightly meeting of the Lower, Hutt Borough. Council was held last night,'-the Mayor IMr. Gr. P;. Bunny) presiding. When ho submitted plans, the borough engineer . had' informed him that the drainage would be laid in : front of his sections almost immediately. Ho understood that the engineer had put the matter before the council on several occasions, but so far. nothing had been done, and. the occupants of the 'cottages had been flooded out, principally.with water from adjoining sections. He hoped tho matter would be attended to at once. - It was decided, on the motion of Councillor Baldwin, that tho work.be done as soon 'as possible. . The' material for local use.must bo sold at 4d. per yard, and to the council at 2d, per yard. . Tho borough engineer reported that tho floors of the eastern septic tank were completed. Tho : roofiing-in was now' being proceeded with. More than half the centring was fixed, and the concreting would be started on Monday. Western Sewerage—Tho laying of the sewers was proceeding as rapidly as the woather would permit; The sections in hand were the continuation of■. Cuba Street,. Fitzhorbort Street, and Wakefield Slreat.-
