There was genuine rejoicing in Otaki, grins, being fired,, bells •: rung, and rockets. sent;up. Mr.vCockrell was conveyed over four . or .five- miles of rough country, on horseback .io Mr. -Sheridan's whare, where he was made comfortable for the, night. He states that when Judd' left him, his cattle'broke away,, and he tried/to head them, .but failed. : Ho endeavoured, to return, 1 but got: off the track, and was obliged to camp for the night. Next morning he setout; again,but took a wrongdirection. On, Monday- .he' heard search parties, and "coo-eed" to them, but failed to make them hear, and, owing '.tol-.the rough nature of the country and his weak state,, he was unable to reach them. . Yesterday he struck the river, .and was-homeward bound when he saw a party pass. He failed to attract their attention, but, on, their . return, met them, and was escorted some six miles on horseback to the camp,by his- rescuers, Messrs. Frasor and Judd.'
