Giving evidence beforo tho Postal Commission, tho vice-president of tho Lettor-Sorters , Association declared that tho largo percentage of deaths from tuberculosis among let-tor-sorters was duo to tho unhealthy conditions under which tho men worked. ' He stated that complaints made to tho Department had 'not boen heeded. It was estimated that 8 per cent, of tho deaths of Ict-tcr-sortors were caused by consumption. In tho opinion of witness, tho habit of people licking stamps communicated consumption. ', ( •
