A heated debate on tile new Shipping Subsidies Bill occurred in the Italian Chamber of Deputies. Signor Colazanni, a Republican, argued that if Signor Nasi was prosecuted for appropriating a few things, there was much greater reason to prosecute, the Senators and Deputies, and Ministers responsible for tho shipping subsidies. This remark roused strong protests. Tho Minister for /Posts and Telegraphs, Signor Schanzer, rushed at Signor Colazanni and struck him. Friends pulled back the MiniiitcT, ii ho renewed his efforts at assault, but who was finally persuaded to desist. The uproar led to tho adjournment of tins sitting. Tho Bill subsidies tho Italian Lloyd Company to tho extent of £700,000 sterling,' nearly half te much again as any former subvention.
