official-changes; ; : ; ■ The absorption of the Roads Department by the; Department of Public \Vrriss is being accompanied by several changes, includ-. ing the formation of two new 'districts, in charge of district engineers. One of these 'includes Poverty Bay, and consists of a roughly triangular territory, with East Cape as the apex, and a line/from Whakatan© to near the Mahia Peninsula as the base. This district will be in charge of Mr. C. E. Armstrong; now resident engineer at To Karaka; and he will be assisted by an officer of the Roads Department. The other new district will be made by cutting off from the Auckland district the country around Whangarei, and extending thence to the r northernmost point of the mainland. Mr. M'Ennis, who is now resident engineer of the North Auckland Railway Works, will be the district cngineor. Mr. F. B. Wither of ■ Canterbury,, will be roads engineer, under Mr. J. A. Wilson, district engineer, Auckland, who will, in addition to his other duties,.tako over the railway construction work. Mr. J. D. Louch, the Wellington district engineer, will have his district extended to. include Hawke'.s Bay, and Mr. M'Millan, district , road engineer, Napier, will aot underpins supervision. ■ The Public Works engineers in : Marlborough (Mr.- Sharp), Nelson (Mr. Harding), Greymouth: (Mr. Lewis), Canterbury (Mr. Vickerman), and Otago (Mr. Furkeft) will add the control of road construction to their present duties.
