The club desired to bare a fall inquiry made, s at which witnesses from the . club, should be heard. It was agreed to ask the referee for a report. . ..; Poneke Club applied for-permission to-play a benefit match, against Ponsonby, in Auckland,: early in September. The Ponsonby Club ;\ had; intimated that the match was to be a benefit to George Gillett (All Black and Near Zealand and- Auckland representative, now retired from football through accident). The club was prepared to.allow the visitors £50 towards their expenses. Permission waa granted, subject to tho Auckland Rugby Union approving the date. The Tramway Club reported that, a spco tator at the Tramway-Oriental match, on June 30, had used objectionable language to one of the club's players. The club recomnionded that stops should, bo taken to debar the spectator from, admission to the union's x grounds. It was resolved to request witand' L the rcforco.'to attend-at next meeting. . It was agrood that the ; mntch should be replayed. An allegation of "shameful treatment" from tho referee (Mr. Hill) was made by tho Epnni Club in connection with their match against St. James. Mr. HiU attended, and stated that his decisions were fair and jast. Ho had learned, prior to tho match, thai rough play was to be expected from ,the Epuni team, and as soon as the game commenced he found it necessary to enforce the _ rules strictly. The ground, Melting's Siding No. 1, was unsuitable for football, end the lines were misleading. Mr. J. P. Firth wroto again in regard to his allegations of rough play in the third-, class match, Wellington College v. Epuni, and stated that he did not. anticipate any support from fcbo referee or from the Epum captain, as the former had tolerated tho rough play, and the latter was directly responsible for it. A letter was from the Epuni captain, who denied that dh-ty play had oe-,. curred. It was agreed that tho Epuni team should bo severely cautioned. On Saturday ovening tlio team 1 will be entertained at dinner by Mr. H. N. Holuvos, chairman of tho Wellington Football Association, and will afterwarde visit the theatre. During their stay in town tho members of tho team will be accorded tho pfivilogos of the Civil Sorvice Club.
